i don’t think that many of you will argue that you might need to take a vacation from technology. if you do the following, you need to take a break, really.
1. sit in front of the tv with your laptop
2. interrupt eating / drinking with your friends or family to answer a call or text (that you are not expecting). i understand that sometimes you are waiting for someone to contact you to meet you, etc. — that’s acceptable to an extent
3. check your email/facebook/twitter right before going to bed while you are in bed and do the same thing once your eyes open
4. can no longer have a conversation with a live person
5. think you’re getting dumb
6. can’t remember anything because you have too much coming at you
7. can’t read your own handwriting because you only type or text
8. read so many online articles and blogs that you can’t even refer to one
9. you are not present in real live conversations because you’re fiddling around with your phone. this is also rude to the person you are with.
10. you become uneasy when you are unable to read email/go online/check FB or Twitter
hey, it’s okay to take a break and i bet you need it. when you do it once, you’ll do it again and again. you’ll feel better and realize that your phone or computer doesn’t need to own you, plus you’ll be able to have real conversations again and realize that your brain isn’t 100% mush.
we’ve all done it and now there’s a home for it. welcome to textsfromlastnight.com. here are some real good ones. enjoy!
(302): I woke up this morning with my shirt on upside down.
(1-302): You mean inside out.
(302): No, upside down. I ripped the neck hole in the process of getting it around my waist.
(541): I can’t believe you let me try to pierce your nipple with a dart last night
(919): so I was just driving high and I stopped to let a pinecone cross the road because I thought it was a hedgehog.

i don’t doubt that nearly every woman wants a manly man (or girl - see below) and even if he’s a little soft or emotional, that can be rectified by wearing the wolf t-shirt. this shirt has made love connections many times over. just look at some of the reviews.
“While I was browsing tube socks, I could hear aroused asthmatic breathing behind me. I turned around to see a slightly sweaty dream in sweatpants and flip-flops standing there. She told me she liked the wolves on my shirt, I told her I wanted to howl at her moon…”
“Well now I am used to a little female attention, being an international hedge fund billionaire as well as a high handicap polo player, but this TWM shirt had the ladies going wild.”
“I too bought one of the sweet wolf shirts, hoping the magic with women might work for a lesbian like myself. It has, and I’m up to my ears in trim…”
“awesome as jesus”
if you don’t buy this shirt now, you might end up having a lonely, lonely life if you don’t already have one. if you’re already taken, watch out, your partner might leave you for someone sporting the TWM shirt. beware of the power of the wolf. buy here or lose out

it’s a hard time out there for agency folks. clients are pulling back spending, dropping agencies, delaying campaigns and that means that agencies, not all, are getting really slim. that means people are looking for jobs in many different ways. Cards of Change is a site that allows creatives and other ex-agency folks to upload their own revised business card. some are very creative; it also gives you a little peak into how many agencies have let people go—big, small and across the world. good luck to all of you out there looking. i’ve been there three times and the last time was less than a year ago.

James at Big Wheel showed me this site this morning - getmikeajob.com. This is probably one of the most creative ways I’ve seen someone look for a job and he utilizes only social media to do so. What happens? He lands a job just after two months, he shows his expertise in social media and he lands a job that he actually wants. I’ve been there before and the shortest amount of time it took me was four months, the longest, nine. This is a great way to really walk the talk. If you look at Mike’s data just after a few weeks, it’s pretty cool as are his prizes that he’ll give out to that person that helps him land a gig. I could have used some pet sitting and maybe a dinner prepared by his wife had I helped him land that job. I’m sure this St. Louis guy has been the inspiration to many of those that are currently seeking work.
