You Need a Techation
i don’t think that many of you will argue that you might need to take a vacation from technology. if you do the following, you need to take a break, really.
1. sit in front of the tv with your laptop
2. interrupt eating / drinking with your friends or family to answer a call or text (that you are not expecting). i understand that sometimes you are waiting for someone to contact you to meet you, etc. — that’s acceptable to an extent
3. check your email/facebook/twitter right before going to bed while you are in bed and do the same thing once your eyes open
4. can no longer have a conversation with a live person
5. think you’re getting dumb
6. can’t remember anything because you have too much coming at you
7. can’t read your own handwriting because you only type or text
8. read so many online articles and blogs that you can’t even refer to one
9. you are not present in real live conversations because you’re fiddling around with your phone. this is also rude to the person you are with.
10. you become uneasy when you are unable to read email/go online/check FB or Twitter
hey, it’s okay to take a break and i bet you need it. when you do it once, you’ll do it again and again. you’ll feel better and realize that your phone or computer doesn’t need to own you, plus you’ll be able to have real conversations again and realize that your brain isn’t 100% mush.
